There is no specific age in which a child should be baptized. The timing of the baptism services depends on the parents and is determined by the role they want religion to play in the child’s life. It is not unusual for several siblings to be baptized at the same time.
Many denominations bear witness concerning their children that they belong to God by baptizing them when they are infants. The infants do not know about this at the time but their parents do, and the church does, and in time, the children will see other children being baptized and be taught that this is what happened to them, and so, the witness will be borne to them that they belong to God.
All churches place a great deal of importance to baptism, and in the Roman Catholic church, so much, that when a child is in danger, it must be baptized immediately, in the house of the parents if the child is too young or weak to take to the church. Otherwise, the child will be taken to the consecrated edifice as soon as his health will permit. In the Protestant church, services are deferred until both parents can attend.
